A ‘White Christmas’ in Florence ?

Light snow was falling in
the Florence area again this morning, but it
wasn’t nearly as bad as last week when snow, heavy rains and flooding wreaked
havoc on planes and rail lines in Tuscany .
As many as 14 flights were diverted last Tuesday from Florence 's Peretola airport due to heavy
rains causing poor visibility, an airport spokesman said. Those same heavy
rains also disrupted rail travel around Lucca ,
stretching as far as Florence and affecting
trains around Pisa and the seaside town of Viareggio . However, a ‘White
Christmas’ looks increasingly unlikely with rain and higher temperatures
forecast from this evening onwards.
